A Place for Projects

Follow the projects that aren't directly knife related. Some of these posts will be updated as the journey continues and some are fully finished. This page, like Bar None itself, is an active work in progress and will evolve over time. Plans and models be provided eventually. Once I have the time to gather and figure out where and how I want to host those, they will become available.

Please enjoy and browse.

The grinder that started it all.

Designed after a disappointing search for a 2x72 belt grinder that both was reasonably priced and of high build quality. If you have more time than money than building your own is always cheaper.

"I can make that."

It's taken as a personal affront when a product so simple is so overpriced. Forcing you to make it yourself to see if the price is worth it. You might save money but you better not value your time.

Bachelor pad or garage shop?

One machinist's trash is another mid-20s, tool obsessed and shop deficient, bachelor's treasure. A fresh coat of paint, new top and railing and assortment of liquor completes this industrious bar cart. It wouldn't be complete without a waterjet cut personalized bar blade for quick bottle work.

Standing desk without the standing.

What better way to think through a problem than over a good sit. Finding a comfortable chair that is counter height wasn't working out so heading to the workshop and frankenstein'ing this comfy monstrosity was all I could do. Take an office chair and slap it onto a heady duty plate base and you get the shop chair.

It might not be really vintage but it sure felt that way.

I don't only find vintage knives at estate sales, sometimes I find light signs that don't work. Well my wife's office can always use another light.
